Pulteney Princess

First of all, I pass Great Pulteney Bridge,
Its majestic bathstone arches, towering above me,
Now I know I'm ready,
To pick up and drop off,
My many perfect passengers
I am a boat
I am the boat
The Pulteney Princess
The Pulteney Princess
After that, I soon arrive,
At the old cattle market,
People wave,
Through the haze, And visit this old place of trade
I am a boat
I am the boat
The Pulteney Princess
The Pulteney Princess
Finally, I glide under Cleveland Bridge,
Towards a wildlife haven,
Kingfishers, grass snakes, ducks, swans,
What fun to swim down the Avon!

One bright day the Pulteney Princess was cruising along. The Captain of the boat is Joe, the most popular sailor ever known. The Princess was his home.
Joe looked like a handsome man, he had blue eyes, brown hair, shiny teeth and middle sized ears. His clothes were dark blue zip up jacket, black top underneath, blue trousers and shiny black boots. He wasn’t married so he was lonely. Joe used to have a wife, she disappeared one night and there was a boat.
One day Joe was normally showing people around and then the city had gone, it turned into a rainforest. Joe said ‘I think we have gone back in time’ a passenger said ‘why do you think that?’ ‘Because there’s a dinosaur’ shouted Joe. The passengers screamed for their lives. Joe set the engines for full power, the dinosaur gave a deafening roar!
Later on the Pulteney Princess came to a little house. Joe said to the passengers ‘Everybody stay here, I’m going in’. When he got inside there was an old crinkled man, he said ‘I heard that you lost your wife’ Joe, surprised, said ‘How do you know that?’ ‘I know everything’ said the old man. ‘Cool’ said Joe. ‘I can turn her back into a human’ the old man said in a cracked voice. ‘What do you mean turn her back?’ Joe said, shocked. ‘Well, she turned into a boat called the Pulteney Princess’ said the old man. ‘That’s my boat’ said Joe, shocked. ‘I’ll turn her back only if you give me a ride back to 2008’ said the old man. ‘Ok’ said Joe. They walked outside, Joe said ‘Everybody, this is….what is your name?’ The old man said ‘ my name is Bernard’ Joe said ‘This is Bernard’ They got on board. They went back the way they came and what do you know, they went back in the city and the old man said ‘Thank-you’ and he turned the boat back into the girl and Joes wife said ‘Hello again Joe’

By day I live above the surface,
Swimming, floating, gliding,
No one who boards suspects a thing,
About the secrets I am hiding.
They come and go everyday,
Many origins collide,
They stamp around on my back,
It’s a surprise we don’t subside.
I don’t complain and keep my peace,
Till everything is silent,
I rev my engine loud and clear,
This is rather violent.
I close my eyes and once they’re open,
I find myself in another space,
Different clothes, speech and cleaner water!
What time is this mystic place?
Could I meet Jane Austen?
In her Georgian dress,
Or a roman soldier
Which the spa is sure to impress.
But I can’t stay long,
I now have to go,
Before people realise,
And my disappearance shows.
