Pulteney Princess
A Half an hour upriver from Pulteney Weir we tie up at Bathampton for a couple of minutes, then it’s another half hour back to Bath where we wait 20 minutes before we start the next one hour round trip.
A No. Our main cruising season is from Easter to October. Trips may be undertaken outside of these times. However, if the river is in spate, no boats are permitted to cruise. Although this is unlikely to happen June to August it can occur at any time.
A Yes, we cruise seven days a week.
A There’s no need to buy them in advance. We collect the fares on board. It may be wise to call us to reserve a space for a group.
A Yes, after welcoming you on board we leave you in peace to enjoy the trip upriver from Pulteney Bridge, then on the return to Bath we have an informative and (some people think) entertaining commentary.
A Yes, you can start the trip from either Bath or Bathampton. You may find it easier to park in Bathampton.
A Yes, of course, on busy days we may ask you to tell us what time you plan to return so that we can ensure there is enough space for you.
A Yes, many people walk back to Bath along the towpath of the Kennet & Avon canal, which is just over two miles and takes you under two delightful early iron footbridges and through Sidney Gardens.
A The Pulteney Princess arrives every hour and 20 minutes so you can spend that long or two hours 40 minutes or even four hours.
A Yes, we welcome this. Many people bring a celebratory bottle of champagne. Just remember to bring your own glasses.
A Yes, there is usually no problem with two or three bikes but on a very hot busy day it would be advisable to call us first. There is no charge for the bikes.
A We have room on board for wheelchair passengers provided they can manage, with our assistance, a few steps to board.
A Yes. We have plenty of room, especially if they fold up.
A Definitely. The Pulteney Princess is fully enclosed and a safe environment for tiny children. There is room for them to run about and the river trip can be taken in two separate half hour trips with a break in between.
A No. As far as the temperature is concerned, there is more of a breeze along the river but the boat is fully enclosed in bad weather but most of the time the roof is open for a sunny cruise. As for shoes, Stilettos are permitted but probably best avoided.
A No. But there are toilets within 50 metres of both Pulteney Bridge and the landing stage at Bathampton.
